About us

Old Mission is a community of farmers, small growers, and neighbors who believe deeply in the power of agriculture to sustain the Old Mission Peninsula—today and for generations to come. Farming here isn’t a side note; it’s the foundation of our landscape, our economy, and our way of life.

With more than 120 farms across the township and over 71% of the land zoned for agriculture, the future of the peninsula depends on thoughtful, common-sense approaches that keep farms viable and land in production.

Our goals are simple:

  • Support local farmers
  • Educate the community
  • Advocate for fair farm-centric policies
  • Celebrate value-added agriculture and creative farm operations

What we grow

Apples, pears, and stone fruits are the legacy crops of Old Mission, forming the foundation of our agricultural heritage.

Today, wine grapes, vegetables, flowers, and herbs help create a vibrant and diverse farm economy. Value-added products—like wine, vinegar, jams, and syrups—can be found at our charming roadside stands or enjoyed at any of our eleven local wineries.

Economic Vitality

Local farms contribute to the local economy through food production, land management, and value-added enterprises that keep dollars circulating in the community.

Farming Matters Here
